Group Insurance Analyst

Group Insurance Accounting:

-Work with consulting partner to track group insurance claim, premium and expense payments of approximately $450 million per year

-Review quarterly accounting forecasts. ?Understand variances from plan, drivers and full-year implications to PepsiCo and individual divisions

-Prepare inter-company charges to bill divisions for the cost of their employees? health & welfare benefits

-Manage the vendor payment process. ?Ensure that vendor payments are based on accurate headcount and rates

-Work with Internal Reporting to ensure the general ledger has required liability booked at end of year to over all outstanding obligations.

Claim Analysis and Insights:

-Perform a detailed annual analysis of claim trends in preparation for plan design. ?Include PepsiCo claim trends, external trends and bechmarking. ?Present findings to the senior C&B team and to divisions

-Identify opportunities to manage costs and provide better quality of care through plan design, communication and vendor performance

-Complete quarterly scorecard on claims experience and trends. ?Complete ad hoc analyses

-Benchmark PepsiCo benefits, costs and utilization to the external market. ?Identify trends and opportunities

-Manage claim data warehousing and reporting. ?Manage data vendor performance, costs and special projects

Annual Health Care Plan Review:

-Support the annual plan design and underwriting process by working with the plan actuary on assessing the impact of potential changes

-Review underwriting assumptions used by Mercer and validate accuracy, headcounts, claims, plan design assumptions

-Help project the impact that plan design changes will have on costs, company and employee and employee perceptions

5500s/990/Audits:

-Work with financial reporting group to prepare Forms 5500 and 990. ?

-Ensure accuracy and completeness of data. ?Understand any significant year-to-year changes or trends

Medicare Part D:

-Work with Fidelity and Medstat to submit eligibility and claims data in order to receive subsidy

-Monitor developments as they arise with Medicare Part D and keep managers apprised

-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
2-3 years experience in accounting or underwriting
-Strong quantitative skills, analytical skills, attention to detail
-Helpful to have knowledge of health & welfare plan design or claims analysis
-Works closely with Benefits staff, Finance and outside consultants
-Heavy emphasis on analysis, insights, forecasting, accounting, reporting and compliance
