Function Overview

Institutional Accounting supports Fidelity Management Trust Company (FMTC), which serves as a discretionary investment advisor or sub-advisor for investment management products, directed trustee for trustee services and official record keeper for internal Fidelity clients.


Position Summary

The Lead Accountant will be responsible for the oversight of various institutional investment portfolios as assigned by the Team Manager. The Lead Accountant will have an in-depth understanding of the responsibilities and functions performed by the Trust Accountant and Senior Trust Accountant. The Lead Accountant will have at least 1 to 3 years of experience within FMTC Operations. Involvement in operations projects and training initiatives is required. Increased contact with internal and external clients, as well as business partners. The Lead Accountant may at times be responsible for the daily responsibilities and functions for an investment portfolio(s), for example, during vacations, excessive implementations, periods of turnover.


Major Responsibilities

o Oversee and review the following daily and periodic functions and responsibilities of the Trust Accountant and Senior Trust Accountant based on direction from the Team Manager:
o Cash availability and investment information
o Trade executions and settlements
o Income and expense accruals
o Pre-market NAV impact
o Market value impact
o Pricing discrepancies
o Corporate action processing
o New account implementations
o Periodic reconciliations
o Client reporting
o Assist accountants in the resolution of operational issues. Inform Team Manager of resolution or status as required.
o Provide prompt response to inquiries from internal and external business partners and clients. Communicate inquiry and response to Team Manager if required. Elevate issues requiring manager attention or assistance.
o Ensure compliance with departmental procedures to minimize risk and losses to Fidelity. Oversee and monitor completion of reconciliations, assist in the exception items and report to management per department standards.
o Assist Team Manager in compiling key fund status indicators. With Team Manager, evaluate productivity indicators and make recommendations for improvements. Assist and/or oversee the communication and implementation of improvements.
o Ensure comprehensive training is administered when new portfolios or accountants are added. Assist and/or oversee the communication and training for new policies and procedures. If an area is at risk due to a lack of training or experience, attempt resolution and elevate to Team Manager.
o Demonstrate the ability to analyze a problem, obtain and evaluate information and reach sound conclusions.




o Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in the financial services industry
o At least 2 years of experience in financial services operations environment
o Extensive knowledge of internal systems
