Motivated Maintenance Supervisor Needed!
The Company:
The company is a privately-held food manufacturer in the Chicago area that specializes in custom food products and solutions. It is growing at a rate of at least 30% per year. This explosive growth has created a demand for highly-skilled, motivated self-starters to grow with us as Production Supervisors. The organization is fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and never dull.
The Work:
This position provides the leadership and direction for facility?s maintenance department including personnel management, parts supply, preventative/predictive maintenance systems, downtime tracking and project management. Responsible meeting annual departmental budget and for active project planning and implementation. Liaison responsibilities with Corporate Engineering.This position requires a leader and a creative problem solver who is ready to roll up his/her sleeves and make things happen. USDA and/or FDA experience a huge plus!
The Functional Responsibilities:
Accountable for maintenance and engineering business results to include budget attainment, downtime minimization and asset preservation.Ensures all machinery, vehicles, and structures meet all applicable OSHA standards, and are maintained in a safe, neat, and cost efficient manner.Supports various Corporate initiatives to include Lean Manufacturing and Process Improvement.Manages parts inventories and purchases while continually evaluating stock levels and carrying costs. Develops and maintains a vendor data base complete with pricing and key contact information.Identifies staffing requirements to meet business needs. Maintains and develops a motivated well-trained staff of mechanics needed to achieve departmental and company objectives.Prepares annual operating and capital budget for maintenance with aggressive stretch targets.Develops and manages the HSE aspects on the facility safety program to include lock-out/tag-out, confined space, etc.Continually evaluates and modifies operational methods to develop new ways of improving product quality while boosting efficiency, safety, and cost effectiveness of the operation.Manages the facilities use of utilities including wastewater, gas, electricity, nitrogen and water. Develops and puts in place systems to control usage to reduce costs while maximizing product quality.Insures departmental compliance with policies and procedures including external regulatory requirements set by OSHA, EPA, USDA, and FDA.
The Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other closely related field with 5-10 years of maintenance experience in a leadership role with increasing responsibility.Experience with refrigerated/frozen short lead time/short shelf life food products.Strong technical and business knowledge to include the latest Supply Chain Management techniques (i.e. Lean Enterprise) and TPM methods to drive step-function improvement across the Supply Chain.Requisite leadership skills and experience to thoroughly develop and challenge the organization to achieve high performance. Strong motivation and interpersonal skills.Proven ability to lead cultural change.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to directly interface with outside contractors.Must be a self-starter who can accomplish results in an ambiguous environment with little or no direction.Experience/skill in labor management in both a union and non-union environment.Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities to achieve desired financial, quality and customer service goals.Must have at least intermediate computer skills.
