OPERATIONS MANAGER for a multi-rig drilling operation in the GOM

This large-fleet offshore drilling company needs an experienced and personable manager to oversee an ever-expanding multi-rig drilling operation. This position is directly responsible for the overall management and performance of the operating functions, coordinating with the marketing personnel relative to the procurement of further business, accountable for the company image and client relations, monitor safety performance and adherence to mandatory regulations as well as company and industry codes and guidelines.  Also, direct supervision of Rig Managers and Drilling Superintendents including conducting performance evaluations and assigning special work.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



 

?Directs and coordinates local management in the areas of rig performance and administration.

?Insures implementation of company operating policies and determines local policies which best adapt to regional conditions.

? Monitors daily drilling reports, equipment purchases, warehouse stock, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the preparation of the monthly area general report which summarizes all action during the period.

? Responsible for implementation of company SMS, and the safety performance of offshore and onshore operations.

? Ensures that all incidents are investigated as per company policy.

? Person-in-Charge of shore-based Emergency Response Plan/Action in the role of ?Incident Commander?.

? Monitors hiring and termination policies, performance appraisals, and arbitrates personnel conflicts.

? Manage by demonstrating leadership, motivation, planning, feedback and delegation as appropriate.

? Approves budgets for each unit in area prior to submission for final approval.

? Supervises Rig Managers in their preparation of Capital, Fixed, and Operating Budgets.

? Monitors results and dictates necessary corrective action to rectify budget exceptions and variances to achieve planned profitability.

? Assists with efforts in procuring future business by visiting prospective and current clients, identify client drilling programs, assist in evaluating client needs, and report to marketing accordingly.

? Fosters relationships with clients to keep abreast of current developments and attitudes and acts on information to insure smooth operating conditions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

? Education?Bachelor's degree plus good technical training.

? 5+ years minimum experience in offshore drilling industry including two (2) years as Rig Manager, or other equivalent qualifications as deemed appropriate.

? Strong level of adaptable computer skills.

? Very good communication skills, both oral and written.

? Ability to forecast, plan, strategize and direct operational issues as required.

? Experience in motivating and managing large numbers of people.

? Extensive field experience.

? Must be familiar with applicable codes, guidelines and standards recommended by the Organization, Administration, Classification Societies and Maritime Industries.
