Day to Day Responsibilities:
Ongoing DBMS operational and support activities and general management and task prioritization of team members responsible for daily DBMS operations.

Leader responsibilities include providing guidance, task setting and direction to DBA. Operational role includes responsibilities for operations, support, performance metrics, capacity planning, and proactive and preventative problem management. Other responsibilities include operational and SLA reporting, analysis and problem prevention and correction and relating to fixes, patches and DBMS upgrades.

Role includes assisting Team Leader in personnel responsibilities as objective setting, personnel reviews, scheduling tasks and performance reviews. Administrative duties include assisting Team Leader in operational reporting and department budget and forecasting.

Projects involved with:
Evaluates and tests potential operational solutions to ensure they meet department / user needs and requirements. Researches and recommend Best Practices in DBMS operations, maintenance and standards. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Provide measurement of individual objectives for reviews. Recommend changes to IT unit or sub-unit policies in operational practices.

Role within group:
The scope of services provide by Database Administrations are covered by the Applications Environment & Data Management (AEDM) group to which it reports. Services offered in Application Environment & Data Management group are (1) Technical Project Leadership; (2) Analysis; and (3) Database Administration; (4) Application Environment Support.

Frequently interacts with subordinates, supervisors, outside customers and functional peer groups at management levels. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific to operations, maintenance and schedules, etc.

These skills are offered on a time and material basis for project services and Service Level Agreements basis for production service work. These services are offered by the DBA group consist of in four primary areas. These service areas are (1) Application Support; (2) Application Services; (3) Operational Services; (4) DBMS Environment Support. The type of work performed in each of these areas varies upon business needs.REQUIREMENTS
