Operations Manager - Mail Services
OPERATIONS MANAGER ? NEW JERSEY
MailExpress is the leading innovator of mail services for the expedited delivery of flats, small parcels and bound printed matter. We are a fast-growth company and are continuing expansion of our flagship facility in Teterboro, New Jersey near the Meadowlands. Therefore, we are currently looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our management team.
Reporting to the Area Vice President, the Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of all operations in this facility. These responsibilities include production management to ensure performance standards are met; scheduling of regular and temporary personnel to ensure proper shift and volume staffing; and management of physical facilities to maintain cleanliness, efficiency, and security of operations.
The Operations Manager also maintains operational-level relationships with customers, the U.S. Postal Service, and vendors. Conducts customer tours of facility and assists in sales presentations, as requested. Ensures supply and service levels are maintained at necessary levels. Hires, trains, develops, evaluates, and manages performance of all line employees and supervisors. Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal laws, as well as company policies regarding operations, employment and safety regulations. Responsible for filing regular reports to the Area Vice President regarding productivity performance, service level performance, customer satisfaction and evaluations of direct reports. Performs analysis of issues and manages resolution.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of relevant experience in management within a mail facility, air express, freight forwarding, or distribution environment is required
- 4 year college degree preferred
- Experience with U.S. Postal Service regulations a strong plus
- Must be able to analyze information to make appropriate decisions to ensure continued production.
- Experience managing hourly employees and supervisors required. Must display a hands-on, involved, participative management style.
- Must be flexible to work variety of shift schedules as necessary.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision.
- Must be comfortable working in a high-growth, rapidly changing environment.
- Must speak, understand, read, and write English. English/Spanish bi-lingual skills a strong plus.
- Experience with mail sorting machines and automation a plus.
- Strong customer service skills required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills required.
- Must have strong presentation skills.
- Must display track record of proven customer service skills and ability to resolve customer problems and ensure satisfaction.
- Strong computer aptitude must include proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Must be local to the Newark / Meadowlands metro area. No relocation provided.
