Operations Manager - West Coast Distribution Center

POSITION SUMMARY

The principal responsibility of the operations manager is to manage the production of approximately 70-80 hourly associates in one or more value-added & distribution processes. This includes product planning, scheduling and implementing production operations to meet aggressive process standards. The manager will have a supervisor as a direct report.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSActively involved in interviewing, training, counseling, and evaluation of department personnel. Ability to successfully work in a team environment of a just-in-time work cell is an important part of low cost production and is a must. Responsible for establishing and maintaining process and employee control measures to ensure productivity and performance goals are met. In addition, the manager ensures that proper maintenance is performed, good housekeeping practices are maintained and safety regulations are followed. Challenged with analyzing current methods and development of new best practices. The environment is constantly changing; a creative mind that has an attention to detail, is comfortable with change and wants to aid in the growth of an organization would be a solid fitCommunicating with supervisors and management verbally and in writing to ensure that information is accurate and correct.Performing other tasks as requested.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

4-5 years of direct management or supervisory experience in a Distribution Center.2+ years experience in distribution, logistics or supply chain (retail experience a plus)The ability to lead changes and manage multiple tasks and projects without direct supervision. A strong working knowledge of PC-based systems, including word processing and spreadsheet applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.An understanding of some of the following would be helpful: process development, process flow and line balancing, product cost analysis, statistical process control problem solving, total productive maintenance and total quality control.Workflow planning and logistics experience desirable.The ability to advance quickly in an aggressive growth organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to lift 50-70 pounds.Must be able to move pallets of rental units weighing approximately 1100 pounds to processing areas.Must be able to perform frequent lifting, stooping, squatting, reaching overhead, and/or pushing boxes.
