Assists R&D staff members in product and process development activities.  Responsible for maintaining the pilot plant in a ready to operate mode.  Coordinates his or her activities with the pilot plant safety program. Conducts experiments under the direction of Product Development and managers.  This person collects, documents and summarizes data.  Obtains supplies and raw materials.  Assists with product displays, project reviews and report writing.  Conducts special projects and studies as requested.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Conducts experiments in the kitchen laboratory, pilot plant, and factory leading to new or improved products and processes.

Collects instrument analysis and documents and summarizes data from experiments.

Maintains and operates the pilot plant and kitchen equipment in a safe and efficient manner.  Responsible for knowing the standard operating procedures for all pilot plant equipment.

Obtains supplies, equipment and raw material for laboratory, pilot plant, kitchen area and factory experiments.  Reports data to product development and other management as appropriate.

Travels with product developers as appropriate through product scale up initiatives
Performs other duties and tasks as deemed appropriate by the management staff.

BS degree with 0-1 years experience preferred or an Associates or High School degree with vocational/technical background. Must be computer literate in word processing and spreadsheet capabilities.Must have good communication (oral and written) and math skills.
