Plant Manager

MSA (Mine Safety Appliances Company) is the global leader in the development, manufacture, and supply of sophisticated safety products, instruments, and services that protect people?s health, safety, and the environment.  Our company has an immediate need for a Plant Manager at our facility in Clifton, NJ.

 

This position will report to the Manager of Manufacturing, North American Operations, and is completely responsible for this ISO Certified Manufacturing Facility.  Functional areas within the Plant reporting to this position include Production, Quality, Materials Management, Plant Engineering, and Administration.

Responsibilities include:

? Work with MSA North America Operations financial group during budget preparation, assuming complete responsibility for achieving plant financial targets

? Coordinate plant cost reduction efforts to include Six Sigma projects, Kaizen Blitz events, and Lean Sigma projects

? Oversee delivery, service, and quality

 This position will lead and coordinate a Plant Staff of approximately 60-75 associates, including temporary employees during peak sales periods.  This plant is comprised of manufacturing operations, utilizing a workforce of skilled and semi-skilled labor.

 

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

? A proven track record of managing budgets and positive change.  This position will be the catalyst to lead and motivate the Plant to achieve continuous improvement targets. 

? Strong problem solving skills and good interpersonal communication skills are essential. 

? Due to the size of the staff and the number of plant initiatives, the Plant Manager must serve as a team member, facilitator, and active participant on the various teams that are organized within the facility. 

? Candidate must possess the ability to grow within the business area.

? Incumbent in this job will become a key member of the North American Operation?s Management Team.

Preferred:

? Some knowledge of Spanish



 

Education and experience required:

A Bachelor?s degree in an Engineering or Business discipline;

5-10 years manufacturing experience, with at least 3-5 years in a manufacturing management capacity.

Preferred:

MS/MBA
