Description

Responsible for tactical activities related to the production procurement of raw material, sourcing, and supply chain management in support of assigned strategic business enterprise and manufacturing operations. Work closely with operating facilities to quote new parts and processes from approved suppliers to reduce raw material spend.  Work closely with current and future suppliers to reduce cycle time and costs, in conjunction with other Raw Material Buyers and Regional Materials Leaders (Europe & Asia) to leverage global sourcing and cross-business spend. ? Buyer should develop sourcing strategies for Raw Materials. These strategies should be designed such that they fulfill the identified business needs and are in line with the SBU Purchasing strategy. This may be done directly or working in Cross Functional Teams with others. The strategies are to be agreed by Business Management and Purchasing Management.

Qualifications

? Metals/Chemicals industry experience in an environment that supports continuous process, high spend, single sourced and qualified suppliers.

? Extensive commodity knowledge of raw material inputs and specifications related to HON operations.

? Able to translate production drawings into industry

? Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

? Positive behavioral skills and high degree of self-motivation

? Capability to work independently and solve problems with minimal supervision

? Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

? Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

? Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field and a minimum of 3 years related experience.

? Knowledge of the high purity metal market a plus

 Key Success Factors

? Excellent oral, written and negotiation skills

? Strong knowledge of PC applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

? Working knowledge of SAP is highly desired.

? Financial skills utilizing computer-assisted methods are necessary

? Willingness to learn and must be a team player
