Hershey?s Ice Cream, still privately owned and rapidly growing after 110 years, is looking for a Branch Manager for our Richmond, Virginia branch facility. The Richmond branch?s territory covers southeastern Virginia.



We continue to be one of the only remaining ice cream companies on the east coast who manufacturers, delivers, and services every one of our customer accounts.



Our RETAIL customer base includes independently owned convenience stores, ice cream parlors, and supermarkets. Our FOOD SERVICE CUSTOMERS include restaurants, contract feeder client accounts, college and university facilities, snack bars, and independently owned Hershey?s Ice Cream shops.



 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:



The role of Branch Manager in our distribution system is to be a team leader for the sales, route delivery, telephone, and customer service representatives. All aspects of meeting monthly and annual sales objectives, controlling operating expenses (related to personnel and fleet budgets), and maintaining control of the accounts receivable collection efforts are the responsibility of the Branch Manager.



Personnel management is the most challenging part of the position. The Branch Manager personally handles all recruiting, interviewing, hiring and re-staffing issues.



 

CORPORATE TRAINING AND SUPPORT SYSTEM:



The Branch Manager is supported by a Regional Sales Manager and a Regional Vice President who works with the Branch?s sales team, and assists with decisions and guidance involving operational issues and personnel. Your peer group includes 25 other managers that operate facilities in 23 states including Virginia.



The initial training period is a dedicated twelve week period in which the manager works with the Regional Sales Manager, Regional Vice President and each person in the organization to learn the company?s culture, business model, and system of operation from bottom to top.



 

POSITION GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



The Branch Manager is a full time/year round employee who represents the front line of management in our organization. The job is Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, but other duties and activities will require additional time and effort. Very little overnight travel is required other than regional or corporate sales meetings and training seminars. The Branch Manager reports every morning to the facility in Virginia and again in the evening, unless other duties are required. No home office is required.



Sales Goals



Achieve monthly and annual sales objectives/goals.





Work in the field on a day to day basis (usually 4-5 days per work week), mentoring a sales team of three full time Area Managers and three full time customer service personnel, known as Merchandisers.





Conduct the company authored sales training program known as Benefit Selling. Be the key teacher and coach of developing the expertise and financial gains of the sales team.





Be involved in community and industry associations and groups that advance the growth of the branch.





Expense Management:



Control an operating budget of approximately $1M including wage, fleet, cabinet department and miscellaneous categories.





Direct the sales team in the collection of delinquent accounts (A/R).





 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:



The compensation opportunity is as follows: $60,000 - $70,000 range.

Annual salary (bi-weekly)



Monthly sales commissions (Premium Pay)



Manager?s incentive bonus (semi-annually on sales, expense budget and A/R)



Annual sales bonus (paid in October)



Holiday bonus (paid in December)

Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of continuous management experience with full responsibility for the direction of a street level sales team.



BA/BS degree is preferred but not required.



Computer experience in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.



Good driving history (CDL license would be a plus).
