Background Information:

Our client, a Fortune 500 organization, has engaged us to help them find a Senior Buyer to fill a current opening which will be located at their Rochester, NY headquarters location. 

 

The position is currently vacant and they are looking to move quickly.  

 

The company operates several subsidiaries throughout the northeast, and their customer base has almost tripled in three years.  They offer a competitive salary range and a comprehensive benefit plan to include medical, dental, life, flex spending, 401(k), educational assistance programs, and professional development. 

This position will report to the Procurement Manager and has direct accountability for the following functions:

? Strategically sources commodities and services, using a variety of traditional and leading edge methods, to assure an uninterrupted supply of goods and services across all subsidiaries. Evaluates and selects suppliers based on their ability to maintain optimum customer service levels at costs in line with annual budgetary expectations.

? Leads cross-functional enterprise teams to drive procurement initiatives and improve bottom line performance. Centralizes the procurement function for all operating companies and solicits assistance from subject matter experts where required.  Prevents and contains contract leakage to maximize strategic procurement results. Solicits employee participation in the strategic sourcing process from other subsidiary units.

? Maintains current and accurate understanding of a broad base of commodities and general business conditions. Tracks material/service costs, and supplier performance using approved metrics.  Analyzes trends and makes corresponding decisions that contribute directly to the company?s competitive position.

? Negotiates and awards multi faceted, large and complex, business wide enterprise contracts to minimize operational, legal and financial risks. Formulates requests for proposal/quotations, bid analysis, and risk evaluations. Directs supplier negotiations and administers agreements.

? Mentors and trains junior members of the supply chain organization. Drives creative solutions and communicate/suggest best practices to management and colleagues.

 

 

Qualifications & Background

We are seeking an individual with 7-10 years of well-rounded experience in sourcing goods and services, writing and negotiating high level ($100k+) contracts, developing strategic initiatives, and project management. AAS degree required, BS/BA strongly preferred.  C.P.M or working towards achievement also preferred.  The ideal candidate will also be proficient in PC software applications including Access/Excel and possess informal leadership skills and a strong customer focus.
