SALES & OPERATIONS PLANNING MANAGER

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sales & Operations Planning Manager is responsible for directing the sales and operations planning process for global production of U.S. originated apparel sales. Provides an on-going planning horizon for all apparel products, including all demands on production facilities and machine service parts. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes primary duties, responsibilities, accountabilities that may be assigned to others. The following describes the major/unique challenges, internal and external customers affected, primary contacts, and, as applicable, the scope of independent action, decision-making, supervisory and leadership authority.

 Works across the Paxar organization to develop a supply and demand plans taking into consideration inventory levels and goals, demand forecast and customer order backlogs, new products/program launches, capacity, productivity, company growth and profit plans.Establishes procedures and processes to ensure the establishment and maintenance of a supply demand plan.Establishes and maintains process allowing orders to be routed to optimal production locations.Ensures that production volumes are proactively moved into new production locations and that resources are available to meet product delivery.Certifies production locations for specific technologies (i.e. flexo, heat transfer, etc.)Determines location assumptions for pricing large complex orders.Determines production location for large complex product orders.Develops metrics and manages processes to: continuously improve capacity utilization; shorten customer lead times; and reduce operating costs. Establishes the standards for customer lead times based on customer priority level. Establishes procedures and processes that ensure a solid link between location decisions made in pricing product and the go live production.Works with sites and Information Technology to maintain a valid global item number database to ensure accurate handling of orders. Works with sites and material groups and Information Technology to maintain global visibility into inventory levels, including raw materials, finished goods and work in process.  Has the authority to reserve inventory. Maintains an on-going awareness of new production sites and site modifications to ensure appropriate inventory levels.Maintains an awareness of production sites capacities and capabilities Works across the Paxar organization to develop budgets for sales and operations group, material purchases and capital expenditures, and other related areas of accountability.

 WORKING RELATIONSHIPSProgram Development/Management 

Works with Product Development to obtain product line demand plans, market position status and market strategies and trends, including any special promotions, new products or unusual changes in product mix or customer demand.

 Operations

Works with manufacturing status to obtain capacity and to ensure that manufacturing capabilities are considered when setting the Supply Plan; and to explain and discuss variances of production, inventory (units and dollars), demonstrated capacity, productivity, shop and supplier on-time performance and customer backlog levels outside a realistic tolerance.

 Finance

Works with Finance to review the Sales & Operations Plans to ensure consistency with the Annual Operating Plans and to ensure that cash flow capabilities and profit plans are considered. Also reviews and discusses with Finance the financial impact of inventory levels and anticipated changes in costs. 

 Scheduling

Works with scheduling to obtain summarized master schedule information by product line.

 Digital Production Art

Works with DPA to obtain information on global deployment schedules and demands and to understand technology capabilities at other sites.

 Information Technology

Works with IT to drive the development, coordination, and implementation of user-friendly databases that enable the storage, reference, retrieval and transfer of data to support the sales and planning process.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education, experience, key competencies/skills, certifications required for success.

 Bachelor?s Degree in Business Administration or a related field.Excellent leadership skills.Three years relevant experience in directing a function in operational/production planning and forecasting, supply chain planning, order management, sales forecasting/planning or a related field.High level of verbal and written communication skills and ability to operate across multiple functions, work levels and geographies. High level analytical abilities to effectively gather and evaluate information from multiple data sources.Knowledge of sourcing strategies, manufacturing, capacity planning; global capabilities and customer management.Strong knowledge of apparel product line, demand trends, seasonality and other characteristics that impact planning and production.High level of problem solving skills including ability to conduct root cause analysis and determine implications for correction action.
