Senior Network Engineer
Major Activities and/or Essential Functions:
Examples of typical activities would generally include several of the following:
? The incumbent will work as a team member with some supervision and will routinely be required to participate in cross-discipline and cross-functional teams.
? The incumbent will frequently be engaged in designing solutions for cross-discipline projects and serve as a lead architect in data communication LAN and WAN projects.
? The incumbent will work as project team member representing an assigned technology discipline. In addition, the incumbent will act as lead architect on some projects.
? The incumbent must stay abreast of technology trends and advances that affect telecommunications and understand the impact of these changes on the energy industry business.
? The incumbent must make periodic critical analysis of the resources within an assigned technology discipline and then develop strategies for improving systems, mitigating risks and reducing cost structure.
? The incumbent must be capable of leading discussions with business teams and technology teams to gather requirements and develop solutions.
? The incumbent will support current standards required to insure the network and information technology systems are optimized to meet the requirements of the client business units.
? The incumbent will be required to create, update and maintain documentation relating to the changes made due to projects and/or problems the incumbent encounters.

Knowledge, Experience & Competency:
? Applies advanced principles, theories and concepts to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways. Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas.
? Individual contributor considered knowledgeable within a discipline/functional area.
? Experience as a technical team member and/or lead.
? A Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications or related IT field and two or more years experience in telecommunication systems design during which the candidate demonstrates the ability to perform this role.
? Must possess a thorough knowledge of telecommunications technology across several disciplines and have a working knowledge of information systems.
? Candidates are expected to possess CCNA or CCDA certification as a minimum and will be expected to pursue a CCNP or CCDP certification.

? Team member or independent action as required.
? Multiple interfaces internally and externally.
? Acts as a team contributor on large projects that affect the organizations long-term goals and objectives.
? Demonstrates leadership role in forming/maintaining productive working relationships with customers and suppliers.
? Acts as Lucent/Corporate resource.
Summary:
The incumbent is expected to be a subject matter expert supporting the application and design of data networking technologies. The incumbent is required to be experienced in all aspects of Ethernet and IP networking with CCNA or CCDA certification. Possessing CCNP, CCDP, CCSSIP, CCVP and CCIE certifications are considered a major plus. Role will be as a contributor in network architecture strategy, planning, and design for a multi-client environment. The incumbent will provide architectural leadership in conjunction with a business, project management team and several operations teams in support of a large enterprise environment. The environment involves supporting the telecommunication system needs of a large client in the energy industry as well as multiple smaller clients in various other industry segments. The environment includes management and administration of two primary Data Centers, three direct Call Centers and several outsourced Call Centers, as well as approximately 200 geographically dispersed remote office locations. While the emphasis will be on architecture, planning and design, there will be some expectations for implementation and support of project initiatives. Candidates at this level must have experience and knowledge in several IT disciplines. Primary disciplines will be data networking systems with secondary emphasis in IP telephony, wireless, network security and operational support systems.
