The Opportunity:
The Shop Operations Leader will perform a strategic management role as a key member of the Leadership Team.
Participate in upper level management meetings, task forces, and cross-functional improvement teams.
Manage the Shop Operations functional area (Maintenance, Tool Room and Components Areas), including performance management, career development, and recognition initiatives.
Lead Shop Operations Dept. (Maintenance, Tool Room and Components) processes, including budget, headcount, and capital planning.
Partner with all functional area management to develop, interpret, and monitor fair and consistent application of company policies, processes, and procedures.
Identify organizational needs and influence the company's strategic direction, including coordinating and uniting all organizational activities and providing necessary resources.
Counsel employees and management in solving problems that impact the workplace.
Promote overall employee satisfaction through effective communication, performance review processes, and recognition practices.
Provides support to managers on business decisions, including developing and monitoring annual operating plans.
Complies with all safety, environmental and health requirements as specified in the ISO 14000 and COS systems.
Complies with ISO 9000 and COS Leads and participates in continuous improvement teams within the area and incorporate best practices in the CPF portion of the business.
SKILLS - FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL:
Good experience influencing change
Excellent record in ramp-up or set up of new operations
Good motivator and facilitator
Able to manage all supporting functions for the department
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques such as: Customer contracts, quality partnerships, reward programs, training and developing of associates, visual systems, six sigma, pull-systems, poke-yoke efforts and standard operating procedures.
SKILLS - QUALITY/IMPROVEMENT:
Must posses a clear understanding of the Kaizen philosophy nourished with personal experience in leading improvement teams that produced effective results.
Green Belt or Six-Sigma training desirable
Visual Factory
Battle-neck and constrains management
Analysis & execution of FMEA's
SKILLS - TEAMWORK:
Experience working in team settings and creating the right environment for teams to flourish.
Must be a good facilitator
SKILLS - LEADERSHIP:
Leadership: experience leading a similar team in size and complexity and coordinating all support functions to effectively reach quality, delivery and cost objectives.
Develop/implement and display appropriate metrics to communicate and drive performance.
Essential Skills and Experience:
8-12 - Years of experience leading a large organization (70+)
Bachelors Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
Preferred Green-belt or Black belt training
