Supplier Quality Systems Manager

 

POSITION SUMMARY




The primary function of the Supplier Quality Systems Manager is to provide global leadership in the development and management of supplier quality systems and processes for all Morse & Thermal Suppliers and manufacturing locations.  The Supplier Quality Systems Manager is responsible for systems and processes that support Morse TEC & Thermal Supply Chain strategies for 750 suppliers ($400m in purchases) and 19 Morse TEC & Thermal manufacturing locations located in six countries. They are responsible for ensuring supplier quality processes and systems are in place and consistently applied throughout all Morse TEC & Thermal manufacturing locations to enable leveraging of resources and reduction of system costs. 

 

Provide leadership in training, mentoring and developing Morse TEC & Thermal personnel and our supplier partners.  Conduct benchmarking to identify and implement best practices for supplier quality and supplier development.  Involves business travel up to 50-75% of the time.



 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Lead the implementation of supplier improvement quality common processes and systems by training all Morse & Thermal manufacturing facilities and the Morse & Thermal supply base.  Key BorgWarner common supplier quality improvement processes include; 3rd party controlled shipping, process audits, problem resolution (8D), pass through characteristic reviews, and supplier conferences.Lead the implementation of supplier launch processes and systems by training all Morse & Thermal manufacturing operations and Morse & Thermal supplier base.  Key BorgWarner common launch processes include; Assessments, Risk Management, APQP, Early Production Containment, We Are Ready Audits, and PPAP. Manage the consolidated BU Supplier Performance Rating (Supplier Scorecard) and assist the Morse TEC & Thermal manufacturing operations in supplier performance improvement (1/3 reduction in supplier PPM).  Participate and support manufacturing locations on the “Top Worst Supplier” meetings Lead and implement a “Supplier Performance System” for all Morse & Thermal manufacturing locations to enable. Create and maintain a supplier database for key supplier information (Questionnaire, Assessments, etc) to leverage information across all Morse & Thermal manufacturing locations. Develop and maintain key supplier quality performance metric systems that track the effectiveness of our suppliers’ performance. Manage the consolidated BU Supplier Performance Rating (Supplier Scorecard) database and assist the Morse TEC & Thermal manufacturing operations in supplier performance improvement (1/3 reduction in supplier PPM). Lead and/or support “120 day” improvement teams to improve supplier performance. Provide leadership and strategic guidance to Morse & Thermal Supply Chain Management team. Drive culture that reflects continuous improvement









 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEEngineering or Business Administration degree, MBA preferredFluent English Minimum 10 years of work experience preferred in automotive or automotive supplier industry in field of Quality Assurance or Supplier Quality.Strong interpersonal communication skills to be able to communicate to all levels of BorgWarner and supplier organizations.Proficient in Supplier Quality Training, DFMEA’s, PFMEA’s, and Control PlansExperience with TS16949 requirements including PPAP & APQP required.Strong training and/or knowledge in one or more of the following areas; Kaizen, Six Sigma, QSB, and Lean ManufacturingKnowledge of problem solving (8-D Methodology)Knowledge of SPC is helpfulTraveling required - 50 % of the time
