ASSOC SCIENTIST II

Job Responsibilities:

Candidate will provide systems integration and the development of new
automation protocols. Experience in laboratory automation, hardware and
software, Automation programming, strong analytical capabilities, familiarity
with preparation and maintenance of system layouts, proposals, quotations and
specification documents. This highly skilled, team oriented individual will
interface with Methods Development, Process Engineering, LIMS, and Production
teams to design and implement existing assays for automated sample analysis.
Aid in the development of integration software using Visual Basic to interface
automation systems with laboratory information systems. Work with Methods
Developers, Process Engineers, and Production personnel to design automation
protocols. Will understand and execute various analytical methods to develop a
better understanding in delivering automated solutions to the scientific
community. Must be able to design and implement maintenance, quality control
plans for a broad range of software systems and automated equipment including
microplate readers, liquid handling systems and integrated robotic platforms.
Sufficient knowledge is required to troubleshoot equipment to either prevent
the need for vendor service calls or focus external service technicians to the
exact problem. Will develop automation methods using existing off line methods
to increase processing capacity, throughput, and robustness. Will investigate
new automation, evaluate and assist in refining requirements and
specifications, working closely with engineers and customers. Will define and
implement test plans and procedures, select and conduct model assays and
experiments to test and evaluate performance against specifications and
requirements. You will be a member of a new dynamic, multidisciplinary team of
professionals who are committed to delivering innovative quality automation
solutions to support Process and Development Biotechnology.

Job Requirements/Education:

The successful candidate will have a BS or MS degree in chemistry,
biochemistry, engineering or related field and 2 to 4 years experience.
Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Requires familiar
with HPLC, protein purification and related biotechnology protocols with strong
background in current laboratory automation, Liquid Handling Workstations,
Multipurpose Workstations, Separation, and Miniaturization. DDE RS 232
interface control is necessary to improve our flexibility in utilizing our
existing equipment in creative ways to perform difficult assays. Experience
with quality systems, development life cycle and documentation. Experience with
Tecan, Zymark platforms and others a plus. Ability to write software to
interface with databases and laboratory information systems Engineering
prototyping drafting, HPLC, Spectroscopy, Microscopy GMP, Validation experience
a plus.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
