Description


The Information Technology Department located in Walnut Creek, California has an opening in Business Analyst 3 (MS Project Server Administrator).

A Project Server Tool Specialist Administrator must configure Project Server 2003 and set up users, permissions, and other options pertinent to the organization. To maintain and refine the workgroup and enterprise features provided by Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003, Microsoft Office Project Server 2003, and Microsoft Office Project Web Access 2003.

The Tool Specialist has a good working knowledge of systems and databases and a good working knowledge of project management. The Tool Specialist/Administrator needs to be dedicated and available to maintain the integrity of the Project Server and Project Web Access 2003 configuration. This person also needs to be available whenever project managers, team members, or other system users need to change their setup.



Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Support implementation of best practices using the Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM) solution
Create new user accounts for Project managers, resource managers, team members and executives in PWA.
Setup access and viewing rights for users in Project Web Access.
Manage and maintain integrity of the Resource Breakdown Structure (RBS), Enterprise Global, Enterprise Resource Pool and Enterprise Project Templates.
Maintain and refine policies and business rules for ALL global settings/views, enterprise outline codes, and reporting options. This includes eliciting requirements from all stakeholders across IT, and ensuring adequate UAT of process changes and resulting output, e.g. views, reports.
Manage the Enterprise Custom Code Fields (Project, Resource and Task fields).
Adapt, adjust and standardize Project Web Access views and capabilities across the entire enterprise.
Manage and maintain the integrity of PWA settings for time reporting by all IT resources.
Support project managers, resource managers and team members by helping them solve tool usage problems.
Help project managers with project setup and validate required Enterprise Project and Resource Code Fields.
Provide a service for checkout/check-in of enterprise project plans as needed.
Assist in training resources and work through software issues and questions. Resolve or escalate issues.
Update instructional documentation and other education-related materials as changes to the system occur.
Support the implementation of patches and application upgrades.
Maintain the OLAP cube and generate Portfolio Analysis views and reports from the cube.
Create and modify as needed: dashboard views for project sponsors and senior management, portfolio views (traffic lights and tracking views) and portfolio analyzer views (resource utilization, bubble charts)
Add, modify or remove users, categories and views.
Develop strategy for archiving completed projects.
