Business Analyst
EBSCO Publishing, Ipswich MA, is a leader in the on-line reference marketplace selling to libraries, corporations and medical institutions worldwide. As EBSCO Publishing continues to grow, we seek qualified individuals who possess the drive and vision it takes to be a part of a success-oriented team. EP?s Editorial Department is looking for a Business Analyst to work with department members to refine and improve data, processes, and tools for accurate analysis and reports. This will involve collecting document requirements and critically examining current editorial production reports and initiating improvements. Monitor and update the Editorial budget.
Basic Function:
? Create, maintain, validate, and execute queries for standard and ad-hoc reporting based on user defined requirements.
? Investigate and model business functions, processes, information flow and data structures, using methodical and consistent techniques.
? Design departmental reports using Microsoft Excel and MS Access.
? Define report requirements and communicate them effectively to database development personnel.
? Review and test query/report results for accuracy.
? Recommend changes to business leaders regarding process and procedures. Consult with business leaders to develop an understanding of the complex business needs that are supported by the team
? Generate the budget according to schedule. Update accounts as business needs indicate.
Essential functions include:Ability to work with individuals from a variety of functional areas.Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment.Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.Ability to QC data and reports.Ability to interpret and communicate results to decision makers.
Qualifications include advanced to expert skills in using MS Access to develop sophisticated queries and custom reports used in the performance of analysis activities. Advanced knowledge and experience in utilizing the MS Office Suite of products. (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio). Advanced knowledge of relational database concepts including table, query, and report design. A Business or Mathematical background is preferred.
