Reports to:  VP, Business Development and Strategy

 

Smiths Group is organized into four principle business groups; Detection (protecting against threats from explosives, chemical and biological agents,  weapons and detecting contraband); Medical (devices used in critical care and for medication delivery); Aerospace (systems and equipment for military and commercial aircraft), Specialty Engineering (highly engineered products for specific industrial applications).


The Smiths Interconnect Division?s objective is to provide client orientated specialized electronic component and interconnect solutions.  Each company within Interconnect goes to market under their individual brand name whilst simultaneously building the division?s profile.  This approach is successful as it preserves and encourages entrepreneurial spirit, which is the cornerstone of the division?s growth strategy in today?s business climate.

Strong organic growth has been supplemented by acquisition activity, which has enabled the division to provide an extensive range of premium components.  Smiths Interconnect employs over 2,500 people working in companies located in eight countries worldwide.

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Business Market Analyst

 

Reporting to: Vice President Business Development and Strategy of Smiths Interconnect, this Business Market Analyst position provides a balance of near term tactical news and longer term strategic market analysis to the senior management of Interconnect and within the Interconnect companies.  Additionally, this position is central to maintaining data purity in the Interconnect CRM system and providing key insights through analysis of this data.

KEY JOB CHARACTERISTICS

 ? Drive Interconnect companies to achieve Full Potential and ensure Smiths Interconnect achieves maximum sales per opportunity through extensive market and CRM research in the markets served.

? Responsible for administration of CRM database across Interconnect companies.

? Prepare and give regular presentations internally about industry and market.

? Collect and analyze data to provide market intelligence on:

o  market, customer, program and product trends;

o  current and future technologies;

o  competitor capabilities and activities.

? Contributes as member of Smiths Interconnect team to strategic plan.

? Assists in development 3-5 year objectives to support the achievement of the strategic plan.

? In conjunction with the business management, develop plans and ensure proper support to achieve effective transition of new acquisitions into the Interconnect CRM operations.

? Provide support to Business Development activities (M&A, partnerships, etc) through analysis of customers, programs, products and competitors.

? Facilitate regular forums for Sales and Marketing management to promote teamwork and share best practices and market plans with these teams in support of market chair persons.

? Support safe workplace cultures and franchise best practices across Interconnect.

? Limited travel will be required ? estimated as 10%.

? 3-5 years experience in global components marketplace desired.

? Expert knowledge in Excel, and PowerPoint in addition to CRM systems experience.

? Excellent verbal and written communication skills

? Experience in government security / ITAR environment.

? Ability to interact effectively with diverse senior team.

? Strategic business acumen and planning ability.
