Clinicals Product Associate

In October 2004 athenahealth announced that they would be offering a new line of clinical services that will be designed to work in perfect alignment with Athena?s revenue cycle tools to support optimizations of revenue cycle and financial health of the practice. The athenahealth philosophy will be applied to the development of our clinical offering. We understand (as we have demonstrated with revenue cycle) that software alone will not solve key clinical process issues. The athenahealth offering will provide a combination of superior automation along with knowledge driven service offerings that support the co-sourcing of clinically orientated tasks associated with medical record data entry, results management, quality reporting and medical compliance. In support of that goal we are recruiting the best of the best to bring an offering to market in record time that will be best of KLAS and provide the same level of service and outcomes and client satisfaction as the current athenahealth revenue cycle products do.

The Clinical Product Associate will report to the Product Manager, Clinical Transaction Services Development. The Clinicals team is currently creating a product designed to make providers? lives easier, and includes such service lines as fax/document management, data entry, order/results management, coding guidance and patient population management for health maintenance/disease management, etc. The ultimate goal is to increase the quality of care while simultaneously increasing cashflow to the provider's office-- i.e., whatever product we create must have a strongly positive ROI. The Clinical Product Associate will be principally responsible for supporting EDI operations as well as growing the EDI offering.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Project management of clinical EDI-related initiatives, including lab order interfaces, lab result interfaces, e-prescribing, e-drug history and pharmacy eligibility;

Designing and documenting processes and procedures for ongoing data maintenance;

Researching trading partner technical and functional requirements;

Investigating issues related to clinical electronic data interchange;

Other duties as necessary to help launch a new product.

Required of All Employees of the Clinicals Department:


Mastery of the following Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word; proficiency with Powerpoint and Access; and an understanding of Visio;

Strong ability to identify potential issues and participate in their resolution;

Excellent problem solving and investigative skills;

Excellent organization and time management skills.

Skills

High level understanding of the three major services lines and of the organization?s responsibility for delivering on them;

2+ years experience participating in healthcare EDI project management (clinical experience is preferred but not mandatory);

Excellent written and verbal skills;

Avid attention to detail;

A positive attitude, and a healthy sense of humor;

(S)he must be comfortable with a cycle of continuous experimentation, where hypotheses are made, tested, and discarded on a weekly or even daily basis;

Experience with lab or pharmacy workflows is a plus;

Knowledge of HL7, ANSI X12 transactions and/or NCPDP is a plus.
