Collections Rep.

Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for collecting monies owed on large balanced delinquent medical accounts in an expeditious manner to ensure account resolution. May work on more complex accounts deferred by lower level team members. The incumbent assists patients by offering suggestions and information in regard to payment arrangements, and account disputes, also performs skip tracing and re-bills insurance companies when appropriate. Must possess the ability to work independently and have excellent customer service and communication skills, patience, flexibility and the assertiveness to achieve goals. The incumbent relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Typically reports to a lead or supervisor.

REPRESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

Obtaining information necessary to facilitate receipt of payments from patients and insurance companies.

Submits necessary paperwork for claim processing.

Maintains accurate patient and insurance data (i.e., medical records, explanation of benefits, demographics, etc.).

Processes appropriate paperwork to patients, insurance companies, and clients, i.e., adjustments, transfers, change forms, etc.

 

High School diploma and/or equivalent experience and/or training.

2+ year of experience in a hospital business collections environment.

Basic medical terminology, knowledge of CUBS.

 

Working knowledge and understanding of FDCPA, and state laws regarding collections.
