Commodities Manager Opportunity - 4096   My client, a leading manufacturer of industrial products that service the consumer industry, is a $150 million dollar division of an $8 billion dollar corporation.  They have locations in over 25 countries.  The division that I am working with is located in middle Tennessee.


 


They are seeking an individual to fill the position of Commodities Manager.  The Commodities Manager is responsible for procuring all assigned materials, equipment, and supplies on a timely and economical basis, in order to support production.  This purchasing function is of strategic importance to the future of the company.  This position ensures that the monetary assets of the company are spent in an economical manner in order to support production at the lowest possible total cost.


 


The successful candidate will report directly to the Materials Manager and will have interaction with top management personnel, key functional areas and suppliers on a daily basis.  Commodities include:  Stampings, Injection Molded Parts, Fasteners, Aluminum, Steel, etc.


 


Key Responsibilities:


Negotiating and administration of purchasing contracts.

Places orders to support production schedules.

Conducts cost savings and value analyses.

Establishes blanket order contracts.

Develops sources for new products and existing parts.

Provides guidance to buyers, planners, purchasing clerk and other plant employees as required.

Monitor current commodity market conditions/trends and identify supply/demand challenges and opportunities.  Develop, implement and communicate tactical and strategic plans for sourcing high quality components at the lowest cost.

Develop and implement continuous improvement programs that result in cost reductions.

Develop and maintain metrics on cost savings, supplier performance ratings and scorecards.

Communicate forecast information to key suppliers on a regular basis.

Develop, implement and communicate commodity management plans.

Payment terms negotiation, optimization and management.

Provide management and support to manufacturing ensuring on-time delivery, high quality and low cost parts.

Develop, implement and communicate commodity plans.

Provide tactical support, when necessary to manufacturing and buyer/planners to support production plan.

Provide support to key suppliers to implement company’s Lean Supply Chain.


 


Requirements:


Ø  Minimum 10 years experience


Ø  BS or BA Degree


Ø  CPM. preferred.


Ø  General knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering specifications.


Ø  Knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures.


Ø  Strong negotiating skills


Ø  Effective communication skills.


 


Compensation is commensurate with experience.
