Conference Manager -

Responsible for researching, planning, coordinating, recruiting and specifying content of assigned conferences within budgetary limits. While performing the essential functions of this position, the Conference Manager has regular contact with all Expo and Conference staff, as well as service and support staff. Externally, this position has contact with customers, vendors and the general public. This position must be visible at all conference sites as well as at select competitive conferences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Responsible for planning, coordinating, recruiting and managing functions related to the conference's business and the industries it represents.

2. Advises and oversees the selection of event topics, speakers, meeting coordination and all operational aspects with regard to the purpose and goals of the event; executes program format, including topics, moderators and speakers.

3. Works directly with speakers to ensure that they have a clear understanding of objectives and expectations; reviews the fundamentals for making outstanding and interactive presentations, and reviews with and assists speakers in how to produce top quality slides and handout materials.

4. Handles all administrative functions as they relate to speaker correspondence, both written and verbal, as well as fulfillment of contractual and financial arrangements.

5. Coordinates program evaluation, assembly, production proceedings, travel and accommodation arrangements; works with the Operations Department in coordinating all pre-conference and on-site activities.

6. Submits written program proposal and budget requirements, and submits post-conference evaluations.

7. Responsible for assisting in identifying new conference opportunities within defined industries; includes researching potential markets.

8. Works closely with the marketing department to deliver content according to specified format and deadlines.

9. Confers with senior management and performs other projects as assigned by the Conference Director.

Individual must have a high degree of managerial, negotiating, financial and time management skills; must be good with numbers and must be detail oriented. In addition, must have a high degree of interpersonal skills, and have practical working knowledge of personal computers; this includes experience in word processing and spread sheet applications, as well as sales management software.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Four year business degree or equivalent in job related experience; at least three years trade show or conference management experience.
