Director, Inventory Management & Operations

Time Life music, videos, DVDs, books and educational materials, is looking for a Director, Inventory Management and Operations to join the management team.  The position will be based in Fairfax, VA (the Merrifield area, just off the Capital Beltway and Rte. 50). 

 

Position Overview:

 

Inventory Management and Operations will have responsibility over two major areas of the business:  Inventory Management and Fulfillment Operations.

 

Responsibilities:

 

?  Direct activities of domestic inventory and production functions.  Manage relationships with suppliers to maximize cost efficiency. Work with product management to determine appropriate purchase levels.  Actively manage inventory levels to minimize carrying cost and obsolescence.

 

?  Lead management of fulfillment services and warehouse providers. Manage suppliers to maximize organization benefit while minimizing costs.  Monitor key metrics to both manage performance of vendors as well as to provide ongoing feedback to marketing groups of impact of campaigns on customer satisfaction and fulfillment costs. Recommend changes to promote efficiency and customer satisfaction.

?  Manage and develop operational systems to maximize operational efficiency.  Ensure proper maintenance and coordination to maximize system benefit while minimizing ongoing support requirements.

?  Oversee the accurate and timely fulfillment of marketing offers and ensure that all items, offers, and programs are properly defined to the fulfillment and planning systems (Ecometry, IFM, Adaytum), that all orders are properly fulfilled and customers are properly billed, that all Inventory is ordered and controlled

?  Lead analysis of process improvements and practices and facilitate timely resolution of issues

 

 

Requirements:

 

? Bachelors Degree and at least 10 years progressive experience in Inventory Management and procurement and working within Operations

? Music industry background strongly preferred

? Must be able to think quickly and offer insight in a wide variety of situations.  Creative problem solving skills and the ability to react quickly to changing business needs are critical to this role.

 

? Effectively negotiate contract terms with key suppliers across a wide variety of functions

 

? Lead teams within and outside of department and direct reporting relationships to accomplish tasks.  Must be capable of motivating both professional and hourly employees

? Strong communication skills including the ability to summarize and communicate in writing and orally to all levels of staff throughout the organization

? Must have exceptional prioritization/organizational skills in order to effectively prioritize tasks and drive execution

? Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects across a wide variety of areas

? Must exhibit excellent analytical skills across a broad range of operational needs

? Must manage with an eye toward effective internal client customer service while maintaining focus on efficiency of operations
