Director Of Disaster Planning & Response

Prestigious Consulting Firm looking to hire Leader for Federal Service Department in Disaster Planning & Response services throughout the Southeastern United States.


 


SUMMARY:


Directs the Disaster Planning and Response Services (DPRS) department by performing the following duties.


 


SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED


 


Receives general direction from the Vice President – Director of Federal Programs.


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


·  Directly responsible for the development and advancement of the DPRS department within firm.


·  Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies and priorities for Disaster Planning and Response Services.


  Responsible for business development and marketing services throughout geographical areas to be designated [likely will include the Gulf Coast and the state of Florida, and up the East Coast to the Tidewater, Virginia area].


Responsible for developing short and long term plans to establish firm in DPRS.  Responsible for implementation of DPRS plans.


Work closely with existing  DPRS staff. 


Hire DPRS staff as needed and develop workload projections for the department.


·  Willing to travel to areas where firm's services could potentially be utilized.  Position would potentially be based in the Southern and/or Southeastern part of the United States.


Position requires a self motivated individual.  The Director will be expected to be out of his/her office a large part of the time. 


Visits operation sites to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.


Seeks new markets and clients and provide positive public relationships through membership and active involvement in professional organizations and associations.


·  Responsible for project management and/or project team quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.


 


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

· Should have experience in Disaster Planning and Response Services.  Should be familiar with disaster training services, grants application and management issues, debris estimation modeling, and setup and operation of entire recovery operations.


Should have an understanding of the complete process involved with debris management operations including but not limited to contract procurement, environmental compliance, monitoring, and FEMA reimbursement eligibility.


  Should be familiar with technology that enhances the debris operations such as GIS, GPS and the preparation of audit-ready documentation.


 


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


Bachelor's degree, master’s degree or doctorate in related field from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of 15 to 20 years experience or the equivalent thereof.  Maintains competency in and serves as major firm resource in field of expertise.





LANGUAGE SKILLS:


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


 


REASONING ABILITY:


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
