Director of Risk Management & Safety

From our first store opening in 1982, the Company's chain of stores has expanded to over 230 in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Texas.

As our population has grown, we now seek a Director of Risk Management & Safety.
To access areas of risk and exposure to the company, and to eliminate or mitigate such risk by designing, executing on and monitoring programs aimed at minimizing risk and accidents to customers and employees alike, to proactively promote workplace safety, and to judiciously insure against risks that cannot be effectively eliminated.


Duties and Responsibilities:
Access risk and exposure throughout the company.
Establish programs and incentives to reduce workplace injuries to customers.
Reduce the incidence and severity of workers compensation losses by establishing policies and practices that foster a safe workplace and by incentivizing safe practices among associates.
Establish and maintain company safety training program.
Supervise risk management team.
Act as liaison for state & federal agencies in charge of safety (e.g., OSHA).
Interact and partner with other department heads, particularly HR, Store Operations and Warehouse/Distribution) to ensure a safe work environment where associates are productive and healthy.
Ascertain where insurance is desirable and manage the insurance procurement process.REQUIREMENTSEducation Required: Bachelor?s degree

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:
10+ years experience in risk management and safety with increasing responsibility, management experience and proven, objective record of success.
Ability to work with all levels of management.
Strong communication and presentation skills (both written and oral).
Expertise in claims management.
Expertise in safety program implementation.
Experience managing state and federal agency relationships.
Experience managing budget and performing financial analysis.
