Description


The Corporate Fuel & Energy Department, located in Pleasanton, CA, has an opening for a Fuel & Energy Analyst.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Develop and maintain energy budgets and track energy costs (gas and electricity)
Communicate utility costs to divisions
Resolve billing issues with serving utilities, power marketers and NASC
Optimize utility rate schedules for Safeway facilities
Maintain utility database ? account/meter usage data, utility contact information, billing information
Analyze Federal and State utility rulemaking changes and determine impact to Safeway?s energy portfolio
Track utility rate changes for both regulated and unregulated impacts to Safeway?s portfolio.
Liaison for Safeway with all serving utilities
Maintain files of existing gas and electric service contracts


 Required Skills


Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:


Engineering, Finance or Accounting degree preferred, MBA a plus
1-3 years experience working with or for a regulated utility, finance firm or accounting firm.
Understanding of physical generation, transmission, and delivery of electricity
Understanding of physical gathering, processing, transportation, and delivery of natural gas
Fundamental understanding of wholesale energy markets
Strong problems solving skills
Understanding of general accounting principles
Experience with budget development and maintenance
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
Understanding of renewable energy markets
Understanding of regulatory policies and rate making process
Strong analytical skills using excel and other database software tools
