IT Director

The Director of Systems Engineering and Support position is responsible for several key areas within the Core Systems Infrastructure. They are: High end Mainframe systems (IBM & Unisys), Middle Tier systems (Unix & Linux), Front end systems (Microsoft, VMS, Novell) and various legacy systems. This position will be responsible for overall strategic planning, implementation and administration of the enterprise's growing core infrastructure while maintaining existing legacy systems throughout life cycle. The position will report to the AVP of Enterprise Systems.

REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant will have a wide-range of managing multi-tier systems in a large organization. Experience with IBM, Unisys, Dell, and HP hardware technologies and experience with multiple operating Systems (Unix, Linux, Microsoft, Novell & etc.) are particularly important to the duties of the Director. Skills in high-level technical planning, developing policy and procedures, preparation of requests for proposals, and vendor negotiations, are critical to success in this position. Strong management skills and the ability to communicate well with end users and technical staff, as well as demonstrable skills in managing a production environment and problem resolution, are required. A Bachelor's degree and eight years of progressively responsible experience in information technology is required of the person in the position.

Roles & Responsibilities The successful applicant will lead a team of System Engineers, Technicians, and other related system support team members. The Director is responsible for the general health and operational readiness of the Enterprise Network in terms of performance, availability, scalability, manageability, backup, resiliency and disaster recovery. That infrastructure may be implemented using any combination of contemporary or legacy technology. Design, deliver, and maintain an Enterprise Core Infrastructure that is highly available, scalable, manageable, resilient, and cost effective, in support of the company's production business functions and corporate infrastructure. Design, deliver, and maintain an Enterprise Core Infrastructure with real-time monitoring capable of immediate response to system related events. Establish and maintain vendor processes to ensure the timely identification and resolution of Enterprise System problems and vendor relationships so as to ensure the availability of leading-edge technologies to meet evolving Enterprise Core Infrastructure requirements. Develop and maintain currency with Core Infrastructure technology trends and evolving industry best practices so as to deliver a premiere contribution towards the Enterprise Core Infrastructure "Vision" as well as to support the Vision of peer IS disciplines Provide Senior IS Management with routine health and status reporting; develop and deliver event and/or technology presentations. Participate in peer discussion groups to leverage both knowledge and experience in pursuit of superior product designs and strategic implementations. Participate in and ensure adherence to the established principles and policies of the Information Systems A-Teams for Technical Architecture Management (TAT), Production Acceptance (PAT), Change Control Management (CAT), and Problem Resolution Management (RAT). Demonstrate leadership principles and team building philosophies in all aspects of these roles and responsibilities to ensure inter-departmental, inter-discipline and inter?-personal cooperation and adherence to the company policies. Previous experience developing and implementing strategic plans is necessary to qualify for this position. Other duties as assigned.
