Principal Duties and Essential Job Functions:
Performs safety and industrial hygiene inspections. Responds to and evaluates employee safety concerns and close calls. Reviews and evaluates process safety plans, hazard analysis and shop inspections. Performs accident/incident investigations conducts safe atmospheric verification checks and associated field monitoring activities.

Basic Qualifications:
B.S. in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Industrial Technology, Basic Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Environmental, Industrial Engineering/Hygiene or associated discipline. Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred. Must be proficient in various computerized systems and software programs related to word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and databases. (i.e. must have advanced knowledge of MS Office and products). Knowledge of Microsoft Project preferred. Must have good communication skills, both oral and written. Customer interface skills including basic telephone skills. Must have demonstrated time management skills and the ability to establish priorities in support of multiple projects. Extensive knowledge of OSHA and other safety and health related standards and regulations. Problems-solving and decisions-making skills is a must for this position. Good oral and written communications. Team Leader abilities is a must. Requires the ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in resolving non-routine problems. May make authoritative decisions in limited circumstances. Must be able to meet functional requirements and Environmental factors as outlined on MSS-HR015 Form for this position, the original of which is maintained in the MSS Human Resources office for viewing.
