Instrument Technician

LYONDELL-CITGO Refining (LCR) is one of the largest refineries in the U.S. designed to process heavy, high sulfur crude oil. The facility covers nearly 700 acres along the Houston Ship Channel and has a rated capacity of approximately 268,000 barrels per day. We have approximately 875 employees, and earned revenues of $5.6 billion in 2004. We manufacture petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, heating oil, jet fuel, olefins feedstocks, aromatics, lubricants and petroleum coke.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a high school (or the equivalent) education.  Five to 10 years experience working with industrial process instrumentation a must.  The successful candidate must demonstrate a satisfactory level of technical and professional skills/knowledge in the instrumentation field by presenting or obtaining either an ISA or NCCER certification in instrumentation. 

 

The Instrument Technician applies technical and professional skills/knowledge in the testing, trouble-shooting, configuring, teardown/rebuilding, and repairing of instrumentation systems utilized by production equipment to ensure reliable operation and to meet established product quality levels; Tests, trouble-shoots, configures, rebuilds, and repairs transmitters, meters, sensors, control valves, control loops, and other instrumentation equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of instrumentation and control principles;  Modifies instrumentation systems to correct functional deviations under the direction of an Instrument Engineer or Specialist;  Diagnoses the cause of malfunction or failure of process instrumentation and performs preventative and corrective maintenance;  Is able to understand and initiate correction of loop diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion;  Records data associated with periodic testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.

 

The successful candidate is experienced in all commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Instrumentation field.
