Instrument and Electrical Technician

CITY: Rumford STATE: Maine COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
The position of Instrument & Electrical Technician is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all plant instrumentation, control systems and support systems in the plant.


Performs inspections, testing, repairs, and installation or removal of all electrical/electronic equipment under the direction of the Operations Manager.

Performs instrumentation calibration and replacement.

Reviews all technical manuals, training manuals and drawings as per supervisor's direction to ensure job knowledge.

Supervises contractor activities as directed by the Operations Manager.

Performs mechanical/electrical work per daily maintenance routine.

Completes the routine inspections and assigned tasks to support the site (SPCC) Plan as well as handle all hazardous materials and wastes in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner.

Aggressively maintains a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices of assigned work area and comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety policies.

Completes all administrative functions required within scope of department as necessary including updates to operations manuals, logs/records to be maintained throughout shift, schedules, special projects, inventories, parts tracking, etc.

Performs other duties as requested, as well as, all reasonable requests from supervisor or lead.

Must be able to qualify and perform duties of Control Room Operator.

Perform inspections of plant equipment, systems and facilities.

Operate plant equipment.

Troubleshoot equipment and systems.


Qualifications/Requirements:

Use of computers and related software applications.

Knowledge of power plant or related equipment; safety practices, machinery inspection procedures; basic chemistry principles; power plant processes; theories and principles of power plant operations; basic electrical principles.

Desired:

High School Diploma or GED.

Familiar with Bailey Infi90 DCS and Mark V turbine/generator controls.

Familiar with Protective Relaying (Electrical).

Familiar with PI and modbus communication to PI

Familiar with computer domains/workgroup networking to the administrator level.

Ability to interpret electrical drawings and PID'S.

Excellent communication skills and interaction with coworkers, supervisors and contractors.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Able to work alone or with help to diagnose and correct electronic or electrical problems.

Accept constructive criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations. This includes continuing to persevere and remaining clam in challenging or frustrating circumstances.

General:

This position is located in Rumford, Maine. No relocation will be provided.

You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

You must be able to climb stairs and ladders, wear respirators, pass a physical exam, work in hot and cold environments, lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and work in elevated areas.

You must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, latex/rubber/leather gloves, safety shoes and respirator) as needed.

You must have or be able to maintain a valid driver's license.
