Manager, Creative Solutions Group






Do you enjoy coaching peers? Are you interested in beginning a career in staff management within a design production environment? Have you been managing staff and want to increase your direct reports and vary your experiences? The manager role in the Creative Solutions Group is ideal for first time and early career managers.



Job Summary:


A position with design and management responsibilities:

40% of time designing

60% coaching and mentoring staff



Key Responsibilities:



Ensure consistent, high-quality service by developing and maintaining dedicated, strong relationships with primary customers of the team

Primary design responsibility to one customer group. This group will either be a member of the administrative community or a low-volume client as determined by the senior leadership team

Develop and strengthen a team of 4-8 production artists/designers by providing regular informal and formal feedback, supporting individual development plans, and coaching project and relationship management skills

Complete staff management

Other related duties as assigned

Department Management Responsibilities



Oversees team?s productivity and workload sharing

Oversees adherence to quality control practices and processes

Organizes and executes initiatives as requested by Associate Director or Director

Participates in recruiting initiatives

Serves as back-up to direct manager when needed



Staff Management Responsibilities:



Oversees staff development and performance management

Holds regular one-on-one meetings with staff members

Documents staff progress and writes thorough performance reviews

Organizes team meetings in which team bonding, continuing education, and department protocols are the core focus



Customer Service Skills:



Superior customer service ethic

Excellent client relationship skills

Strong member service ethic and a solid understanding of the business and value of CEB

Exhibits excellent account management and negotiation skills



Communication and Presentation Skills:



Ability to present self professionally and intelligently to internal clients

Superior interpersonal skills

Ability to engage staff during team and department meetings



Analytic and Time Management Skills:



Ability to analyze quantitative and/or qualitative data as related to the CSG business

Ability to analyze trends in workflow on a client and team level

Ability to look across team (and department as necessary) to balance workloads

Well-established organization, multitasking, and prioritization skills

Proactively presents solutions to improve workflow efficiency



Management Skills:

Superior professional judgment

Ability to work independently and with a team

Demonstrated poise and grace under pressure

All requirements of the Senior Graphic Design Specialist/Senior Publications Specialist



Education/Experience Requirements:



College degree in a related discipline

2?3 years? experience in a production/creative services/desktop publishing environment

At least one year of experience managing or mentoring staff directly or significant team leadership on projects

Willingness to be flexible to project needs; availability to work occasional long days and weekends

Ability to perform gracefully under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines
