Position Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
?Develops and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
?Conducts departmental safety audits and ensures safe working conditions; chairs Safety Council and their activities.
?Establishes and implements standards and programs that promote safety awareness and accident prevention.
?Leads the investigation of serious accidents and injuries, and company preparation of material and evidence for use in investigations.
?Oversees the administration of workers? compensation program, including working with the carrier to introduce cutting-edge programs and reduce lost time incidents. Supervises Workers? Compensation Supervisor and jointly monitors workers? compensation claims, develops and administers rehabilitation management/monitoring programs.
?Develops and implements Ergonomic programs for both office and production environments; monitors to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
?Monitors DOT compliance for Scholastic drivers
?Leads safety related projects and initiatives.

This position will also be accountable for supporting the Book Fairs organization execute enhanced safety standards and procedures to further augment established safe working practices. This will require approximately 40% travel the first year.



Qualifications:

Position Requirements:
?Bachelor?s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or related field highly preferred
?5+ years experience in professional Safety role preferably with distribution/warehouse, fleet and office operations preferred
?Experience with regulatory agencies including OSHA and Workers? Compensation required
?Familiar with ergonomic principles and their application to warehouse, call center and office environments
?Strong communications and internal client interface skills
?Ability to conduct presentations and training all levels of employees
?Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities
?Must be able to work independently and collaboratively
?Ability to effectively present information to senior management
