Marketing Director - Home Decor Manufacturer

THE POSITION:  (DIRECTOR OF MARKETING– HOME DECOR) This highly visible position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development  and will be responsible for new product design and development and product line management for the home decor products lines.  This person will have at least 1 direct report.  The responsibilities are as follows: • Creating marketing plans that set the direction of the business and that help determine & support the assumptions in the revenue and cost budgets • Managing the new product development process from conception to launch. • Direct scheduling, event planning, promotional marketing strategies and collateral support • Working with product designers and engineers to create product concepts, further develop selected concepts and create engineering tooling drawings. • Oversee Product Sourcing, both  domestic and overseas • Negotiating with potential factories, factory selection, and managing the tooling process, including the evaluation, testing and approval of the off-tool samples. • Managing the profitability of the category (existing and new SKUs/categories). • Managing packaging development by working with the creative services department and/or an outside designer. • Development of appropriate sales collateral to support existing product lines and launches. • Semi-annual Line Review preparation and presentation. • Managing product development spending budget. • Assisting in key account meeting preparation and presentation, including market information, retail surveys, and product samples as needed. • Trade show preparation and presentation. • National Sales Meeting preparation and presentation. • Travel to trade shows, retail presentations, and factories as required.


REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor Degree, preferably in business and/or marketing • 8+ years of product development & product management experience in a consumer products environment • Experience in Furnishings, Fashion, or Home Decor • Experience dealing with retail chains such as Michael's, Target, Kohl's, Pottery Barn, Linen & Things, etc.
