Group Manager NetSys Engineering


Group Manager will direct the activities of the NetSys Engineering department including the Unix Systems, LAN/WAN Systems and the Server Systems groups. They are responsible for managing the planning, coordination, configuration, installation and management of all LANs, WANs, Intranets and Internet access points, as well as network components, servers and storage solutions within the association to meet business requirements. Designs, implements and oversees all network architectures and infrastructures. Has key responsibility for the identification and resolution of hardware and software technical problems and malfunctions related to LANs, WANs, SANs, and servers. This individual will assists the VP of Infrastructure Services with growth and strategic planning for the overall enterprise architecture. They will help to ensure a stable performance environment for all business applications, servers and systems (including e-mail) to support the business.


Manage the NetSys staff ? Hire, terminate, counsel, review, etc.
Coach Managers, Supervisor & Senior individuals.
Oversee design of servers and networks; installation plans for routers and hubs,; identify solutions through constant interfacing with appropriate management levels, clients, departments and vendor organizations to ensure that a cost-effective and efficient infrastructure environment is available to provide the processing power essential to the association?s operations...
Provide for and establish an environment where teamwork is a priority. Encourage and foster sharing of knowledge and experience with-in the department. .
Manage installation of servers, hubs, networks, routers, SANS and systems hardware; troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, patch and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems; alert management, help desk team and other IT groups when sensitive issues arise or a major problem is suspected; minimize client productivity loses caused by technology outages and provide necessary infrastructure for the association to meet it?s business objectives..
Manage budget of NetSys department.
Monitor and control network and server performance in the areas of response, throughput and availability.
Supervise, coordinate, approve, and/or establish policy and procedure for Information Technology NetSys department.
Motivate technical employees to give their best efforts on projects and daily support jobs.
Resolve and manage the escalation of technical issues and system outages.
Recommend and write standards, policy and procedures.
Approve implementation of changes/upgrades to hardware and software corporate wide.
Monitor volume of requests to NetSys Engineering staff to ensure proper staffing levels.


 Required Skills


Bachelor?s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience required. Master?s degree preferred.
Minimum ten (8) years personal computer and network experience required. Must have experience with Linux, AIX, Windows, AD, and SAN?s.
Direct experience with various personal computer software programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Access etc.) required.
Experience with LAN & WAN environments required. Experience .with servers, routers, hubs, switches, network devices, communications protocols, Desktop Applications and technical employees are all necessary for success.
Experience with recent and current Microsoft Operating Systems, UNIX/Linux Operating systems, NetWare Operating systems and various LAN and WAN protocols are also necessary elements for success.
Minimum five (5) year of significant supervisor experience managing technical managers preferably in an IT, IS or MIS role preferred.
