Operations Manager-In-Training -- Building Materials Wholesaler

COMPANY: This major building supplies wholesale company is located in 6 states and is expanding rapidly. They sell and deliver roofing materials and supplies, siding, windows, etc., to builders and building contractors in the residential and commercial construction industries. The company has a recently-acquired $5 million building supply business in Memphis that it is improving and enlarging.

DUTIES: This person will be involved in a 6-phase training program in Memphis, over a 2-year period, in preparation for promotion to the position of Operations Manager over a facility in Memphis. Typical work-day duties will include (but not be limited to) opening and closing the store, directing warehouse workers and customer service employees, checking trucks regarding the accuracy of materials loading, taking material orders from contractors, doing cash control functions, creating purchase orders from vendors, etc.

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: A college degree is preferred, but significant related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.   At least 5-7 years of work experience in the construction industry, in a lumber yard, in a building materials/home-supply retail/wholesale operation, or in some business that deals with building materials and building contractors. This person's background needs to show a pattern of growth and a desire for advancement.
