Pension Administration Manager
Hinsdale, Illinois based small yet successful pension administration/consulting and financial planning firm seeks talented individual to help supervise, manage, and assist in the development of our qualified plan administration department. Currently we service about 145 small retirement plans ranging from one person profit sharing plans to 300+ person 401(k) plans.
Our niche is that we not only provide local full service plan administration (including documents) but that for many of our clients we also manage their investments. Being a third party administrator and a professional investment firm allows us to compete effectively on price and become more closely connected to our clients. We are independent from an investment perspective, meaning that we are not tied to any one 401(k) plan provider and/or investment company. For our daily valued plans, we don?t do the day to day record keeping. Rather, we rely on the investment vendors daily record keeping systems while we focus on plan administration, compliance, client service, employee education, and investment management. Our traditionally valued balance forward plans are administered in-house using Datair software.
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who 1) has more than a few years of primarily defined contribution plan administration experience, 2) possesses good team building management skills, 3) enjoys plan consulting and administration, 4) works well with clients and coworkers/subordinates, 5) is adept at using plan administration /spreadsheets/word processing software, 6) has good to great math, analytical, and writing skills, 7) possesses good business sense, 8) takes pride in their work, and 9) has an ongoing desire to develop and learn professionally and personally.
Currently, one of the firm?s two partners has too much on his plate, being responsible for nearly all aspects of plan administration while also managing many client relationships, and being partially responsible for new client sales, product development, and research. Having another qualified plan professional in the firm is essential if we are to grow the business, operate more efficiently, and better service our plan sponsors, owners, and employees.
While an ownership stake in the firm is not an immediate option, the firm?s current owners are open to that possibility for the entrepreneurial minded appropriate individual. In any regard, being able to effectively manage our existing business and possibly assist in bringing additional plan clients to the firm will have a direct positive impact on this candidate?s earnings potential.
Compensation package is a combination of base pay, bonuses, and benefits. We offer a profit sharing plan as well as a 401(k) plan including a company match. The position is full time but allows for a flexible work schedule. Paid vacation and limited health benefits are also provided. Starting base pay and bonuses is estimated at $60k to $72k, depending on experience, skills, and aptitudes.
