Job Title:  Product Engineer

Location:  Buffalo, NY

Status:  Full time

 

Objective:  Responsible for performing tasks in all aspects of technical service including Protocol Development, New Test Development working with the technical, operational, and training departments to ensure newly developed tests and methodologies are accurate and can be conducted at all approved locations. Work closely with the Information Resource Center to continually update all test protocols to include accurate and current references / methodologies.

Roles and Responsibilities: Conduct technical research; coordinate data and correlation studies; write testing protocols and test methods; and provide technical opinions, recommendations, interpretations, solutions etc., to compliance requests, problems, testing issues, etc., either directly to clients or to staff. Work with the lab to develop new test methods for new business and new clients; and improve current test methods to increase testing effectiveness and efficiencies. Liaison to client services, program managers and technical staff, as appropriate. May provide technical training (presentations, hands-on training, etc.) to clients and staff, as needed. Obtain, interpret, and present regulatory and other industry related standards or information to clients and internal staff, as needed. Serve as liaison between US clients and BVCPS testing locations, as needed. Create compliance, safety and quality testing approaches relating to hardlines products. May participate in regulatory and industry meetings, organizations, e.g., ASTM, CPSC, distribute and communicate.

Skills:Proficient at Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Filemaker, and Lotus Notes Possess and demonstrate strong word processing skills Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills The ability to work independently and handle confidential information Proven ability to prioritize workload and perform multiple tasks Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with peers and manager Display ability to work well in a fast-paced demanding environment Thorough working knowledge of regulations, standards, and requirements relating to hardlines consumer products Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills Excellent client service skills

Education/Experience:

4-year degree in engineering or technical sciences; minimum of 5 years of engineering, manufacturing, laboratory or QA / QC experience in program and test development related to consumer products; advanced degree preferred.
