Product Validation Engineer Co-op Roseville ? Fall 2006



Job Description:



 

As part of the System Engineering team in the Enterprise Storage Division, Co-op students receive the opportunity to become engaged in one of the one or more of the following activities; designing, building or debugging system level hardware, software and firmware to test a prototype IC in its intended applications.



 

Design work includes:

Highly integrated programmable chip level designs (FPGA design and VHDL coding)



High speed (GHz) board design involving both analog and digital circuitry



C/C++ device driver design



Application level Tck / Tk scripting for automated control of the system



System level integration of high speed backplanes, traffic generation boards, firmware, software, OS and the evaluation boards containing the prototype IC





 

Co-op students are also responsible for the development and execution of a Feature Test Plan for specific IC?s, this is a set of tests that exercises the various functional blocks of a prototype IC and tests the system level circuitry to performance criteria and to industry standards



 

Job Qualifications:



 

Essential

Completed 2nd year of education in an Electrical or Computer Engineering program



Interest in digital and analog circuit design and test of Data Storage devices with embedded processors, protocol blocks, and high speed I/O



Experience or knowledge of C, C++, or Java programming languages



Ability to quickly ramp on new projects



Excellent analytical skills



Excellent communication and documentation skills





 

Desirable:

Experience or knowledge in:

High speed digital and analog circuitry



FPGA?s and VHDL or Verilog coding



Scripting languages such as Perl, Tck/Tk



HTML, PHP, or SQL



Linux and VxWorks



Working in a lab or testing environment an asset
