Project Management Associate

Job Description: PROJECT MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE: Assists project managers in coordinating product development activities with a focus on maintaining project/product configuration control per the product development process and design control requirements.

IV. Duties and Responsibilities
1. Project Management and Coordination: Takes specific direction from project managers in assisting with the creation of clearly written product requirements, specifications, project plans, etc while driving focused aspects of a project through the Technology and Product Development Process ensuring good practices are followed, actual performance against the project plan is tracked and reported, design history files are assembled and maintained and to ensure compliance requirements are met.

2. Configuration Adminstration: Takes specific direction from project managers in coordinating the creation, review and approval of engineering documents and manufacturing documents ensuring proper document configuration and release status relative to on-going product development activities. Takes a hands-on approach in coordinating all aspects of the initial production prototype builds including material supply, tool fabrication and verification/validation, and operator training in order to ensure configuration control. As required, coordinates the review and approval of product development process document deliverables.

3. Data Administration: Takes specific direction from project managers in maintaining project management databases including the Resource database, Issues database, Lessons Learned database, etc. Ensures data integrity and accuracy; generates reports as required.

4. Meetings & Presentations: Takes specific direction from project managers in scheduling and conducting regular meetings to review, track and coordinate focused product development activities. Makes presentations on development status for current assigned projects.

5. Communication: Takes specific direction from project managers in providing verbal presentations and producing effective written reports covering all aspects of program management.


VI. Specialized Knowledge & Skills
1. Communication: Must be effective communicating with personnel at all levels within the organization including production operators, project engineers and department managers.

2. Leadership: Effective at directing project team resources. Strong, articulate and secure discussing the product development process and project status.

3. Management Style: Hands on, good with people, high energy, good motivator with a broad technical knowledge and good communication skills.


VII. Experience
1. Total Experience: 3 to 5 years total experience in various capacities related to product development and configuration management.

2. Management Experience: Some experience in R&D project management preferred. Experience with the development of medical electronic devices a plus.


VIII. Education & Training
1. Degrees: BS in mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, industrial engineering or equivalent
2. Training, Management: Project management coursework.
