Job Description:
This position supports the independent testing/verification of Annuity system changes in the Production Support environment. Changes range from small break/fix changes to release upgrades. The Project Manager works closely with the Production Support Managers and Developers (Business and IT), Business Analysts and Business representatives to ensure that code in the MODEL office region meets business and processing requirements prior to being approved and migrated to production. The candidate will create extensive test plans and develop test scenarios that are used to test the applications (transactions, screens, calculations), outputs and interfaces utilized in Appless and NSCC processing. The Project Manager will execute manual testing and will oversee Regression testing to ensure base levels of ongoing testing are robust enough to identify problems in commonly used productional scenarios.
- Assists in the gathering of business requirements.
- Prepares or revises individual application program specifications of a simple or moderately complex nature.
- Update product profile as applicable to Appless Brokerage Firm processing.
- Communicate system/product changes to Appless/NSCC Brokerage Firms.
- Tests individual applications.
- May assist in the preparation and/or running of systems tests.
- Provides assistance on production support tasks including the maintenance of product/program libraries and the answering of questions on production problems.
- Review specifications and requirements for new or changed functionality, understanding functionality sufficiently to develop test plans and scripts.
- Create comprehensive test plans, with well defined, reusable test scripts for new functionality. Define test cases, conduct tests and track results. Keep documentation that meets Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for completeness.
- Document software defects in the Defect Tracking tool and proactively work with developers to analyze, isolate and correct the problems.
- Coordinate testing with the business area to ensure their requirements are understood and being appropriately tested.
- Ensure the accuracy of system calculations.
- Assure testing standards are followed
- Maintain test script libraries.
- Work with Production Managers and Developers to establish change move priorities into the MODEL office region for QA testing.
- Assist in the determination/scheduling of bundling QA Passed items for movement into the Production environment.
- Oversee Regression Testing for completeness and accuracy. Define new test cases and test conditions as needed to be added to the Regression testbed.
- Monitor Regression output. Research and assist in the resolution of problems uncovered in the testing process.
- Assist Managers in the coordination of Model office region usage, balancing current projects and production support needs.
- Reports status to the Production Support Managers.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent oral and written communication and time management skills.
- Experience with all aspects of the software development life cycle: Analysis, design, development, testing and implementation.
- Experience in using a formalized testing process.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, self directed work team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong team interface skills.
- Ability to perform independently.
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple assignments. Must be able to accept and manage changing priorities and address issues quickly and professionally.
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Experience with Insurance and Financial Services business processes and systems.
- BA/BS degree or equivalent business experience.
