Satellite Ground Controller

CDI is seeking a Space / Satellite Ground Controller for a long term contract position with benefits, including paid vacation and holidays, etc.  Location is near Columbia, MD - near Baltimore & DC.

 

Job Description:

 

Participate as one of several controllers to plan and schedule the daily operations of the MSX spacecraft. On average the satellite will execute three data experiments and 25 health maintenance events per day.

 

Requirements:

 
6 years experience in spacecraft operation or mission planning with the ability to make effective quick decisions under pressure.
Familiar with UNIX based operating systems.
Familiarity with astronomy not required but very helpful.
Understanding of all satellite flight operations planning, control and assessment functions with particular emphasis on real time operations.
Have in depth understanding of the spacecraft.
Experience in providing direction to the real time operations team. Able to take charge when anomaly is detected, invoke proper contingency procedures and make any required decisions regarding the safety of the spacecraft.
Experience in conducting an objective and readiness review prior to each spacecraft contact and post review.
Experience maintaining a daily operations log.

 

 

Prior experience with MSX Spacecraft a plus!
