Seafood Specialist

Darden Restaurants Inc., the world's largest casual dining restaurant company, is currently searching for a Seafood Specialist for Jacksonville, Florida. 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

? Inspect samples of frozen seafood upon receipt at our storage locations in the United States and Canada. Determine compliance with written specifications for these seafood products.

? Using computer data bases, manage the warehouse in which they are located to ensure that all product is inspected in a timely manner.

? Manage the seafood inspection laboratory to maintain quality sanitation practices, equipment calibration, accuracy of analyses and security of information.

? Manage the inspection of IQA vendors to ensure conformance with Darden Restaurants Inc. specifications and FDA Standards.

? Assess the packaging integrity and quality of inbound shipments to Darden Restaurants, Inc. Make recommendations which will improve the quality of the packaging.

? Train new seafood specialists

? Communicate Quality Standards to seafood vendors when requested

? Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

? Must have good problem solving skills.

? Display organization and time management skills.

? Must be a self motivated doer

? Excellent analytical and decision making ability.

? Good working knowledge of computers.

? Ability to lift 50 lbs.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

? A minimum of 1 year of Seafood Inspection or total quality experience or equivalent

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

? A minimum of a Bachelor?s degree in seafood science or other closely related science discipline.

 

OTHER:

? Up to 30% away from home travel may be required.

? Relocation may be necessary
