Senior UI Designer

Overview:

 

Palm is seeking a senior interface designer who can provide user interface expertise from concept through development on core applications and new software solutions.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

?  Work closely with a cross-functional team consisting of software marketing, engineering, and others to define and document interfaces that simplify the lives of our customers

?  Integrate customer and user-test feedback into the product definition and development process

 

Qualifications:

 

?  Minimum of 5 or more years of user interface design experience with track record of on-time delivery of successful products

?  Experience with software applications for phones or handheld devices is a plus

?  Experience with interfaces for multimedia or applications with media integration

?  Minimum of 2 or more years as project team lead with ability to manage internal and external designers

?  Skilled Macintosh and/or Windows user

?  Advanced user of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator or comparable design tools

?  Strong verbal and written communication skills

 

Skills/Experience:

 

?  Strong working knowledge of human-centered design processes

?  User-centric focus and passion for prioritizing and solving customer problems rather than adding bells and whistles

?  Ability to articulate design decisions and influence cross-functional teams

?  Instinct for finding the simplest and most pragmatic method to achieve a given design goal

?  Ability to work both in a highly collaborative environment and independently

?  A good sense of humor is a must

 

Education:

 

?  B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interface or related field, or equivalent work experience

 

Travel:

 

?  Some travel required
