RealNetworks is looking to hire a PR Director with a strong background with independently managing major press and media relations for a consumer-focused technology company. This senior-level professional will embody the combination of consumer and corporate communications expertise, credibility with top-tier broadcast and print media, strategic thinking, and the maturity and judgment necessary to counsel company executives.

The successful candidate will be able to prioritize many competing initiatives at once and possess the skills necessary to position a successful consumer-centric product launch. This person will act as the primary press contact for potentially a variety of offerings including Casual Games, the fastest growing segment of the business, the company?s video services delivered over the Internet, and the company?s mobile products and services.

This candidate will also need to be proficient in financial communications in order to positively contribute to quarterly earnings announcements, corporate development announcements, e.g., mergers & acquisitions, etc. As part of this, this candidate will need to have contacts in the financial press both broadcast and print. In addition to these products, this individual will help create the positioning strategy for current and future content offerings, future consumer software applications as well as crafting press releases and messaging for both a domestic and international audience. Additionally, this role would be involved in our communications strategy and execution around quarterly earnings, potential M&A activity and other corporate finance issues. This role will be vital in our attempts at building a global interest and demand for our content products, and significant time will be spent supporting these efforts across several content categories.

A candidate must have a demonstrated track record in creating strategy for and executing consumer product launches. Proactive and creative product placement and execution of large-scale PR events are critical success factors for this position. Just as importantly, we are seeking someone with strong contacts and a demonstrated ability to place executives on major broadcast programs, and generate major business, consumer and technical press. . Other key attributes for this position include an ability to balance reactive and day-to-day PR with proactive contacts and discussions leading to coverage. Ability to create a network of proven and established press and media contacts within the consumer and technology PR communities is key while maintaining a solid professional reputation and credibility. We are looking for a high-energy individual who thrives in changing environment and can bring a passion to our varied content offerings. Detail-orientation, organization skills, flexibility and the ability to multi-task and prioritize are essential for this role, as is outstanding communication and influence skills as well as an entrepreneurial spirit. Strong writing and public speaking skills are a must.
