Description


The Dominick?s Division?s Construction and Design Department, located in Oak Brook, Illinois, has two- (1) opening for a Store Designer.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Prepare preliminary designs for new/remodel stores - prepare fixture layouts, interior and exterior elevations, floor tile plans, reflective ceiling plans, site plans, and complete assignment drawing packages.
Provide direction and decision making on design issues with construction personnel, architects, and consultants.
Check construction drawing and specifications for adherence to Safeway standards, eliminate errors and omissions, and ensure good economical construction materials and practices are followed.
Request, review, and approve fee proposals for surveys and preparation of construction plans and specs, invoices, and material and equipment submittals.
Travel required 15%.

 Required Skills


Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:
Degree in Architecture or equivalent experience in an Architectural Office preferred.
3-5 years in Architectural (store) design and planning.
Intermediate drafter in a Design/Industry-related firm.
Construction administration and project management training a plus.
CAD and drafting skills, field experience, plan checking, site planning, and entitlement experience.
Knowledge of Auto-CAD 2000 or newer.
Ability to handle tasks simultaneously. Must work autonomously with minimal supervision.
Ability to ?think? like a store customer/employee when developing new layouts.
Practice good negotiating skills when working with government agencies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
