CONSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT ? OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS

 

The Dominick?s Division?s Construction Department, located in Oak Brook, Illinois has an opening for a Store

Designer II.

 

Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired, unless specifically stated:5-7 years in store design and planning.Degree in Architectural Design or equivalent experience.Construction and project management training a plus.CAD and drafting skills, field experience, plan checking, site planning and entitlementexperience.Knowledge of Excel, Lotus 123, and/or Auto-CAD a plus.Able to handle tasks simultaneously. Must work autonomously with minimal supervision.Provide direction and decision making on design issues with construction personnel, architects, and consultants.Strong team building and training skills; ability to motivate as well as coordinate merchandising initiatives.Must be able think like a store customer when developing new layouts.Must have good negotiating skills for working with government agencies.Should find it challenging to make standards fit unusual layouts and building designs.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

 

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Preliminary design of new/remodel store-prepare fixture layout, interior and exterior elevations, floor tile plans, reflective ceilings plans, site plans, complete assignments drawing packages.Project manage architects and consultants and coordinate/resolve issues with management, government agencies, contractors, and construction representatives.Plan check construction drawing and specifications for adherence to Safeway standards, eliminate errors and omissions, and ensure good economical construction materials and practices are followed. Request, review, and approve: fee proposals for surveys and preparation of construction plans and specs, invoices, material and equipment.Travel required: approximately 10-15%.

 Salary range begins at $50,500. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
