Job Summary:

Technical Marketing reports into the ATG Marketing organization which is responsible

for setting the product roadmap(s), defining features, pricing and margin targets, revenue planning & unit forecasting (with Ops & Sales), product positioning, marketing communications, competitive analysis, sales training, and applications engineering support for new design wins, and customer engineering support.

 

Technical Marketing defines the product line roadmap, technology roadmap, features release roadmap, product requirements, and tracks the ongoing status of the product through development.  Responsible for customer interaction during the idea phase, and through the business case analysis, and until it is released to the engineering or development organization. Technical marketing is responsible for MRD, PRD, and business case analysis.

 

The qualified candidate will be responsible for developing the WiMAXplus subscriber product strategy, product and technology roadmaps, and new product requirements planning. The qualified candidate will be responsible for subscriber product line management from the business case phase through the product requirements phase after which the product marketing engineer owns the product.  The Technical Marketing engineer will interact with customers to assess new products and feature requirements to be integrated into the NextWave ATG product plan.

 

Skills and Experience required for this position:

?  Minimum of 12 years of wireless voice and IP network communications semiconductor or systems experience.

?  Must have marketing or business development experience selling wireless semiconductor products into mobile handset manufacturers or designing / marketing mobile terminal devices.

?  Must be knowledgeable in basic communications architectures including base station and subscriber station devices for cellular applications. 

?  Must be knowledgeable of basic communications theory that may include CDMA, GSM, Wi-Fi, WiMAX or Bluetooth. 

?  Must have experience with leading handset vendors and some experience working with overseas ODMs.

?  Must be knowledgeable of mobile terminal software stacks, IP stacks, ISO software model, and standard IP software components. 

?  Must be a highly motivated, flexible, and self-directed individual. 

?  Must be able to work independently, making appropriate decisions, and driving the company agenda with vendors, partners and customers.  

?  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. 

?  Must be comfortable in a highly dynamic start-up environment.

?  BSEE Required.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:  An MBA is highly desirable.  Experience with large consumer electronics and cellular handset OEMs is highly desirable.

 

Job Responsibilities:

?  Meeting with customers to solicit feedback on NextWave?s subscriber product roadmap, and define customer requirements to be integrated into NextWave?s product and services offering.

?  Developing new product concepts and pro-forma business projections related to volume pricing, subsidies, costs and volumes of infrastructure products.

?  Working with subscriber product marketing to align the infrastructure product roadmap with the subscriber terminal product roadmaps and the addition of new features as they are made available.

?  Define a feature release roadmap with Product Marketing.

?  Writing the business case analysis and the Marketing Requirements Document (MRD) which includes the business case along with product and technology roadmaps.  Individual Product Requirements Documents (PRD) will be written for each of the products on the product line roadmap. 

?  Providing strategic marketing input related to other technology support requirements such as newly acquired spectrum, broadcast technologies, spectrum usage issues, and service mix issues related to spectrum license requirements (ie, FDD, TDD, interference issues, etc.).

?  Defining usage models that describe the detailed actions by a subscriber when using a feature supported on the NextWave network.

?  Driving the technology and feature roadmap into the product requirements and resulting in achievement of roadmap goals for cost, performance, and features.

?  Create in-depth competitive analysis, which includes a comparison of performance specs, features, pricing and roadmaps. 

?  Track competitor announcements & partnerships

?  This position requires extensive work at a computer terminal which comprises approximately all the time spent not traveling.

?  This position may require contact with overseas vendors in evenings after 6pm (ie, Asia), early mornings before 6am (Europe), or middle of the night (ie, India).
