POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technician ?Service Center? is a Service Operations position responsible for support of both pre and post sale services activities. Under general supervision, tasks will include: maintenance, troubleshooting, retrofits, upgrades/changes, and repair of Symbol products. Tasks associated with this position are primarily performed within the Service Center.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. Service/Support
1. Performs engineering changes and retrofits on customer?s equipment in conjunction with routine maintenance.
2. Diagnoses most equipment problems using appropriate tools, test equipment, and documentation.
3. When necessary, is capable of making repairs to the component level.
4. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

II. Planning Skills
1. Good organizational skills.


III. Management Skills
1. Prepares accurate reports on a limited basis. Maintains logs and documentation on equipment and repair activities.
2. Alerts supervisor and/or management on potential customer needs and/or equipment problems.
3. Accurate / timely return of repair paperwork and parts kits.
4. Performs work duties in accordance with accepted Symbol safety procedures, and corporate policies.
5. Adheres to established ESD guidelines, repair procedures, and associated safety standards.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
? Completion of a two year Electronics Technology degree or equivalent experience.
? Knowledge of:
Volt/Ohm Meter
Common Hands Tools
Diagnostic Test Equipment
Familiarization of Symbol Products
Knowledge of networks and RF Systems preferred
? Good working knowledge of PC and applicable software such as MS-Word, MS-Excel, and PowerPoint.
